‘Incredibles 3’ Announced at D23, Pixar Teases ‘Toy Story 5’

ANAHEIM, Calif. − Pixar revealed some surprising news at the D23 Fan Expo on Friday: The animation studio is making “Incredibles 3.”

Pixar’s chief creative officer, Pete Docter, dropped the bomb in front of 12,000 fans, the largest crowd ever for a Disney fan convention.

“As you can see, we have plans for ‘Incredibles’,” Docter said at the end of his presentation, before adding, “That’s right, we’re doing ‘Incredibles 3.’ “

Docter told the audience that Brad Bird, the Oscar-winning writer and director of “Incredibles” and “Incredibles 2,” is developing a third film. He had no other details or release date for the project. But the D23 crowd was dismayed by the news.

This summer’s “Inside Out 2” has surpassed “Incredibles 2” as Pixar’s highest-grossing film, along with Disney Animation’s “Frozen II” as the highest-grossing film of all time.
