Days before that, on Wednesday, Aug. 7, local authorities in Vienna confirmed that they have arrested two men in connection with a planned attack on Swift’s planned concerts at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on Aug. 8, 9 and 10. A third suspect was present. he was arrested the next day, according to the Associated Press.

Shortly after the arrest of the first two people, the concert promoter announced that he “had no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety” in an Instagram post, which at the time which was shared on Taylor Nation’s Instagram stories.
At a press conference on Aug. 8, Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, the head of Austria’s Directorate of State Security and Intelligence, said that one of the arrested suspects admitted that he intended to “carry out an attack” at the “concert” using explosives and knives,” reported multiple agencies.
“His goal was to kill himself and a large number of people during the concert today or tomorrow,” Haijawi-Pirchner added, referring to the date of the first scheduled show.
